Quest Board
A downloadable tool for Windows and Linux
Life is an adventure, so treat it like one!
Nobody likes to-dos and even less do we like lists reminding us of those nasty tasks smelling like business. However, we do like RPGs, don’t we? And this is how the Quest Board was born.
This is my very first and even my very first cooperative game publication. One day, the German artist Vanlau had the idea of a to-do list designed like a notice board in a medieval fantasy town where you can receive quests which you will get rewards for. I grabbed the idea and programmed a first prototype for her.
Call your projects »adventures« and add quests to them. Whenever you finish a quest, you get one more XP. After having collected 10 XP – no matter if between level 1 and 2 or between 86 and 87 –, your little blob bunnie [sic!] will level up. Are your quests difficult and require multiple steps to get finished? Divide them up into subquests! You will then receive one XP per finished subquest. This way, you are supposed to get motivated to cut down your tasks into manageable pieces and even get the most at first overwhelming looking tasks done with a sense of achievement after each step.
It’s simple!
There are various tools around that are supposed to help you self-organize, but most of them are rather complex and require being studied carefully to be able to use them effectively. The Quest Board is intentionally simple so that you can focus on your actual tasks instead of on how to mange your task management.
Individualize your board!
The Quest Board is supposed to integrate into your workspace perfectly. That’s why it provides you the functionality of changing its colours and even save them as templates. It comes with two pre-defined colour themes, of which one is suitable to be used as dark mode theme.
There are plans for even individualizing the blob bunnie walking at the top of the screen, its background environment, and to give the users the ability to design their own assets to import them. Updates will be coming!
Credits
All programming has been done and assets for board interactions have been drawn by Weidengeist. The initial idea for this tool, the header background image as well as all assets and animations showing bunnies are the work of Vanlau.
